GORE-TEX® Garment Care Instructions
The life of every garment depends on the right care. Please always pay close attention to the instruction label.
Even after repeated washing, the outstanding performance of the GORE-TEX® membrane is fully maintained.
Washing
Close attention must be paid to the care instruction label sewn into the garment. Unless stated otherwise, machine wash with liquid detergent for membranes, or "Tex-Bekleidung" product (available from specialist sports clothing dealers), in the fine wash cycle at 40°C. For heavy soiling use a detergent booster and treat stains with any common stain remover prior to washing. In order to avoid detergent residue being left behind on the GORE-TEX® material, rinse thoroughly (where necessary repeating the rinse cycle). Do not use fabric conditioner. After washing, the garment can be given a short spin.
Bleaching
Do not use chlorine-based bleaches.
Ironing
The waterproofing can be reactivated by ironing (without steam) in accordance with the instructions on the care label.
Dry-cleaning
Unless stated otherwise on the care label, the garment can be dry cleaned.
Tumble driers
Dry with a small load and at low temperature.
Water proofing Treatment of the Outer Material
Waterproofing treatment does not affect the performance of the GORE-TEX® membrane, but, provided applied properly, acts as a dirt and water repellent. If the outer fabric is soaked through, this causes heat loss. Good waterproofing therefore also protects from the cold. The outer fabrics of garments with the GORE-TEX® finish are treated during the manufacturing process. As this treatment is not permanent, the garment should be treated with a waterproofing product (available from specialist sports clothing dealers) when water no longer forms beads on the surface of the fabric. Ironing (without steam) in accordance with the care label or tumble drying at a low temperature reactivates the water-repellent impregnation effect. Treatment should be repeated after about three washes.
Tip:
Wash often with a small amount of detergent rather than infrequent washes using lots of detergent.
Repairs
Despite the most careful handling, clothing can get damaged. In the case of waterproof clothing even tiny tears and holes can enable water to penetrate. Because of the special design of GORE-TEX® clothing, damage of this kind should only be repaired by a specialist. Please refer to our customer service department.
Note
Please dry-clean or wash clothing before sending it in.
